AN EXHIBITION of artwork inspired by the Scotish outdoors is set to go on
display at a Stirlingshire art gallery, writes Henry Ainslie.
Artist Luci Maclaren's first solo show in Scotland will display a selection of
her work on the subjects which are her great loves - shooting, hillwalking
and sailing.
The 34-year-old painter returned to Scotland only recently, having spent
much of her life in Los Angeles in pursuit of her artistic dreams.
In the Californian sun she says she was able to "open her mind" in a
different art scene, and she says the experience enabled her to grow up
as a person as well as an artist.
Now Luci is back in her native Scotland, she has taken full advantage of
the opportunities to capture the countrys stunning scenery, natural heritage
and rural life in her work.
Luci said of her painting: "My eye has always been drawn to people and
their movement when out for the day on a shoot, be that the interaction
with each other or the animals. And through my land and seascapes, I try
to extend my love of our Scottish outdoors in every stroke." Luci's work
principally in oils using brush or palette knife, and the Ealain Galleryin
Drymen, where her work will be displayed, say that her paintings are full
of the type of freedom and self expression everyone associates with the
Scottish countryside.
The month long exhibition of Luci Maclarens work will be staged at the
Ealain Gallery 36-42 Main Street, Drymen, from March 28 until April 26,
an opening ceremony will take place at 2pm on Sunday, March 28.
