Ealain Gallery is pleased to bring the ceramic world of Garry Jones to Drymen. Using a ‘menagerie of clay creatures’ Garry uses humour and fun to attribute his animals with human characteristics; combining the expressions of the animals with play on words to create these delightful pieces. Born in Wales, but having lived in the Midlands for most of his life, Garry recreates the (mainly) domestic animals he has known and has connected with. Garry Jones states that ‘Animals are everything to me; they are a continuous source of amusement and happiness, sadness and of course inspiration. My aim is to create humorous, three dimensional cartoon images; using word play and common phrases, recalling the old silent movies where moments in time and emotions were captured by expression alone.’
