About Angus MacDonaldAngus MacDonald rediscovered the joys of painting upon retrial as a senior partner in a major Scottish architectural practice. What started as a hobby has now developed into a full time occupation as an artist; painting in watercolour, acrylics and mixed media. Angus' subject matter is wide ranging, with special inspiration coming from the Scottish landscape and townscape, coupled with studying the play of light as the weather affects the scene before him, the sun, the shadows the mood. As a native of Skye he particularly enjoys the highland scene, especially Assynt where he and his wife have a home. Regular forays to the continent result in interpretations of the major cities in France, Spain and Italy, and include the painter's jewel in the crown, Venice. As an active member of the Dundee Art Society and Broughty Ferry Art Society, where he teaches and demonstrates watercolour painting throughout Scotland, he has won a series of awards including Scottish finalist in television's Watercolour Challenge, and the Artist Magazine's Summer Painting Competition 2004 (front cover of the December issue). He has also won first prize in the front cover competition for the Ken Bromley Art Supplies catalogue. Angus has paintings in private collections all over the world.
