About Nigel GroundsNigel Grounds lives and works on Skye, only a few miles from the Portree High School where he was educated. He then attended Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, graduating in 1986. He draws his inspiration from the notable characteristics of his local landscapes;Skye with its rugged mountains and towering sea-cliffs, the Western Isles with their isolated crofts overlooking vast empty beaches, dark peaks circling turquoise seas and fishing and crofting villages such as Plockton and Applecross nestling in the grandeur of the surrounding hills.
