About JP McLaughlinJ P McLaughlin was born in Glasgow in ‘Rotten Row’, which is probably the best name in the world for a maternity hospital and certainly well worth mentioning. As a child his fondest memories are of lying on the floor painting and having fun doing it. It is the idea of having fun while producing works of art that stay with him today. Joe admits that, even though painting is his passion, he was thrown into painting and literally had little choice but paint or starve. Despite this since taking up the challenge he believes that his life has changed for the better and painting has become a real passion going beyond all reason. Working from his studio in Kilwinning, Ayrshire Joe continues to try to keep the fun in whatever he is doing and will throw himself into new styles and techniques ‘just to see what happens next.’ His main subject matter is light, using it to create a mood or feeling that will hold the attention of the viewer.
