Kevin Fleming was born in Singapore in 1971 as a Scottish expatriate and schooled at the United World College of South East Asia, where he excelled at art. Over his life Kevin has travelled to, and painted in, many diverse places around the world including South East Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. Within the last four years he has based himself Aberfeldy, and subsequently Comrie, to allow himself to be immersed in the surrounding areas of Perthshire and the Highlands and Islands. Kevin explores the countryside in search of the hidden treasures of the land; harvest fields, deep summer nights, secluded beaches and moonlit harbours, all the time looking to connect with his surroundings in a meaningful way to open up their essential and natural character; whether it be solitude, enchantment or rugged beauty. His intention is to harmonise with the character of the place, and to paint it, sometimes in a conventional way, but also sometimes in a very subjective, expressive, colourful and original way which conveys the drama he feels at the time.
