About Bruichladdich
On the Whisky Island of Islay you will find the privately owned distillery of Bruichladdich producing artisanal Single Malt the way it was done in the 1800’s.
Here, the islanders’ art of distilling is still connected to its agricultural roots, with organic and heritage barley grown on selected farms for ultimate individuality. Microchip-free distilling in tall narrow-necked stills followed by island maturation and natural bottling produces a spirit acknowledged as the purest in Scotland. This sophisticated, complex, multi-layered whisky is uniquely Islay-bottled to maximise the creamy texture and long finish - the ideal wine-drinker’s dram.

Jim McEwan's Tasting Notes:
Colour: Gilded Lily
Body: There is a brilliant creaminess in the texture of the spirit which imparts an evenness of flavours across the palate and helps to cool the peat fire warmth which is arousing all sorts of Islay’s Celtic Passion. It’s a spirit with strong character and absolute honesty. Nothing added and nothing taken -which makes this a unique single malt.
Nose / Palate: I love the range of aromatics that rise from the glass, almost as one, to greet you. The peaty smokiness together with the vanilla sweetness from the Bourbon casks is truly magical. This is followed by a real spicy black pepper and lemon spiciness twist, then little wavelets of saltiness ripple over the palate like an incoming tide, accompanied by flavours and aromas of Islay’s heather moor botanicals and ancient pine forests. Waiting patiently to emerge is nutmeg, cinnamon, wild mint and the fantastic malty sweetness of spring barley. Together they create a magical tapestry woven together like the threads of an Islay tweed.
It’s a beautiful waltz of aromas, scents, flavours and feelings moving across the palate. It’s a captivating, uplifting experience to enjoy the art of traditional handcrafted distillation, without any additives or the removal of the natural oils from the sun ripened barley.
Port Charlotte is our son created and loved by all at Bruichladdich Distillery. We have done our absolute best to ensure that ancient traditions and skills were adhered to in order that you can enjoy single malt at its most natural.
Finish: The finish is a brilliant mix of vanilla sweetness and peat smoke with a splash of green fruit syrup and it lingers long and mellow giving total satisfaction
