About Deanston DistilleryDeanston Distillery is situated in the Southern Highlands, by the Perthshire town of Doune, and housed in an old Cotton Mill taking its water from the River Teith next to which it stands. The distillery also uses the power of this fast flowing river to create its own electricity using turbines on the site. Original production began in 1966 and the first bottling was released in 1971 under the name ‘Old Bannockburn’. The first ‘Deanston’ single malt quickly followed in 1971. In 1982 Deanston was temporarily closed down, however following its purchase by Burn Stewart Distillers in 1990, the distillery began production again.
